WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD WRENCH!
Established in 2016, The Neighborhood Wrench is a small, family-owned business run by husband and wife technician team Mike and Ashley Stollberg. It is one of La Crosse’s newest service centers, and is also one of the few woman-owned shops in the Coulee Region.
About Us
What makes us unique? We genuinely enjoy what we do! For a lot of shops, work is just about getting the job done and getting paid at the end of the day - but we wanted to offer more. By opening our own business, we can now provide the higher level of service that we both envisioned.
-Ashley
“My focus for the business is transparency and education. I want customers to really understand what’s going on with their vehicles, and I want to help people learn more about their cars, how they work, and how to take care of them. When people understand why a service is needed or can do basic checks on their own, everyone benefits.”
Ashley is a 2010 graduate of Western Technical College's Automotive Technician program, during which time she was a member of SkillsUSA and a volunteer judge for the first annual District six automotive contest for high school students. She is especially fond of hybrid vehicles and is ASE-certified in electrical and electronic systems. She is also the author of several books, including Cars 101 and A Woman's Guide to Becoming an Automotive Technician.
Mike is originally from Düsseldorf, Germany, and has been swinging the wrench since 1991. He is the manager and lead technician, is ASE-certified in engine performance, and has extensive knowledge of European vehicles. Although skilled in almost every aspect of auto repair, Mike's favorite area by far is diagnostics.
Cookie and Fofo are not involved in the day-to-day operations of the shop, but both enjoy stuffed toys, snuggling on a warm lap, and Bacon Strips.

WHY WE HAVE UNIQUE HOURS
Most auto repairs are open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, but that's when most people are also busy working. To better serve our customers, we're open Tuesday through Friday from 7 am to 6 pm, so you have time to drop off or pick up your car before or after work. We close for lunch from 1-2 pm, which means we're also open when most people are on their lunch break. Last but not least, closing for lunch gives us time to care for our dogs in the middle of the day. They appreciate your understanding!
